The changes in society, most especially the rise of elders living alone
(57% lived in multi-generational households in 1900 compared to less
than 15% today) has led to the increased vulnerability of elders. As a
result, they are more prone to abuse, neglect and exploitation. Denise
will touch upon some of the existing laws to protect seniors and also
preventative measures that may be taken.
