As cross border investment continues to grow, so also does the
complexity of the flows and processes in global securities and custody
operations. Understanding these issues is as important for Risk
Management professionals as it is for the operations staff who service
these assets. This session will highlight and attendees will learn
about key aspects of global operations, including the workings of the
continually growing ADR market. The session will also review income
processing and alternatives available to custodians and their clients
to recover taxes withheld by issuer home country governments on
cross-border investment income, including on ADRs. Tax recovery, an
issue of growing importance due to its impact on portfolio yield, is
also increasingly viewed as a fiduciary obligation.
